Here is a 5x5 deck at 5ft high a residential wave slide, swing beam for 3 swings, a tent top and they added the overhead ladder.

Notice that the overhead ladder is not set as high as it can go. We set them for the height of the children now, then as they grow it can be simply raised to a safe height. This way we do not have small children falling from heights they can not handle. Also this way a parent does not have to lift them up every time that young one wants to  give it a try.

We always put a playhouse wall under the deck, on the swing side of our units. This helps to protect  your children from running out into someone that may be swinging while other children are playing under the deck. At the same time adding play value and shade to the area under the deck.
