PJ's Funcrafters is an owner operated manufacturer/contractor of high quality playground equipment and site furnishings, constructed with Recycled HDPE (milk jugs) Lumber.
In 1986 we began manufacturing play equipment from wood. Then in 1994 we started using recycled plastic lumber and in 1996 we stopped using wood to do any of our manufacturing. We decided as a business to work on becoming part of the solution and not to continue being part of the problem.
Wood is one of our few renewable resources, and is great to use it to build homes or indoor furniture many jobs come from the wood industry and when managed well tree harvesting works.
What we need to do is to stop using it faster than we can grow it. Here in the southwest we would have a well maintained wooden play set last 7 to 10 years and that was with wiping it down 4 times a year with linseed oil.
After doing much research we decided to use a solid plastic product that has no wood in it. This helps to control the extrusion process keeps any mold or fungus from coming into the lumber and makes it recyclable.
